1200 Block of Pearl Street
Boulder, CO
Pearl St. is an idyllic outdoor walking mall in the western portion of Boulder. It was built between 1976-1977 in an attempt to revitalize Boulder’s downtown.
The 1200 block of Pearl Street needed a variety of updates and modifications. The most notable was the granite kickplates and the new clock. The clock was a significant event such that the city mayor, Sam Weaver conducted an unveiling ceremony. A variety of trades coordinated to make the event a success.
The clock is synced to the NIST-F2 Atomic Clock at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a branch of the US Department of Commerce, which also resides in Boulder.
