UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research) manages NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) on behalf of the National Science Foundation.

SUMMIT has been engaged to strengthen the tunnel using state-of-the-art carbon fiber reinforcement. After installing the carbon fiber, we added additional concrete to the top of the tunnel to provide a proper slope. We then added more carbon fiber along with a new waterproofing system. This will allow heavy machinery to travel over the top of the tunnel for years to come.
