Ouray County Building
Ouray, Colorado
The historic Ouray County Building and Courthouse, originally built in 1888 for aprx. $35k, went through renovations in the summer of 2021. This structure is a contributing property of the Ouray Historic District. Most of the original furnishings are still in use in the courthouse, including desks, safes, and vaults.
The Summit Sealants crew waterproofed the foundation with a fluid applied vapor barrier, sheet bentonite waterproofing, expansion joints, and joint sealants.
Of interesting note, the courtroom was used in the John Wayne movie True Grit. In 2016, the courthouse was profiled by the PBS docuseries “Colorado Experience: Courthouses.”
