EXTERIOR SEALANT
Sealant is a substance used to block the passage of fluids through the surface, joints or openings in materials.
In building construction sealant is sometimes synonymous with caulking and also serves the purpose of blocking dust, sound and heat transmission. Sealants may be weak or strong, flexible or rigid, permanent or temporary.
Sealants are not adhesives, although some have adhesive qualities and are called adhesive-sealants or structural sealants.
Types of sealants fall between the higher-strength, adhesive-derived sealers and coatings at one end, and extremely low-strength putties, waxes, and caulks at the other.
CONFINED SPACE SEALANT
JOINT SEALANT
While caulking fills a gap between two or more substrates. Sealants are used in dynamically designed moving joints. Both form a barrier to keep water out.
Sealants can provide thermal and acoustic insulation, and may serve as water or fire barriers.
GLAZING SEALANT
EXPANSION JOINTS
SUMMIT installs many types of expansion joint assemblies including fire-rated assemblies.
